We're On The Move
The start of 2020 is shaping up to be an exciting and expansive year for Writes4Women with Pam and I taking the W4W podcast AND our Podcasting for Writers workshop on the road.
To kick off the year Pam and I will be scooting off to the Scone Literary Festival March 13-15 to do our Writes4Women "Podcasting for Writers" workshop and we couldn't be more excited. Pam and I have been doing individual workshops for writing and podcasting for a while now but we have never done one together before and this workshop combines the best of both our worlds.
After 2 plus years of writing, recording, interviewing, editing and releasing the Writes4Women podcast all by ourselves, we have not only learnt how to podcast but also what an important and valuable tool podcasting can be for authors and writers. So last year we decided to put all of that accumulated knowledge into a workshop to teach writers not just how to make their own podcast BUT how to use podcasting in a number of ways to boost their writing business, expand their readership and improve their craft.
If you are interested in attending this workshop then head on over to the Writes4Women Facebook page or go to https://sconeliteraryfestival.com.au to buy tix and check out the Scone Program. It is their best one yet!
Then on April 4th we are taking the Writes4Women podcast on the road for our first ever LIVE performance at the Newcastle Writers Festival where we will be talking to Favel Parrett about her book There Was Still Love.
This one took a little bit of creative massaging to work out because we had to find a way to replicate our podcast in a live situation. On the podcast either Pam or I, interview an author for the first half of the episode THEN we select a thread to go deeper on together. That format wouldn't work on stage because it would be weird to interview Favel and then just kick her off to have a chat between ourselves. Awkward!
So we went through many incarnations of how we could do W4W live and finally landed on one that stays true to the basic podcast format but engages the author throughout. To make it even more interesting we are letting our loyal and curious W4W audience vote on the subject we go deeper on with Favel for the second half of the session.
In the lead up to W4W LIVE we will be releasing polls of topics for people to vote on via our Facebook and Twitter pages. The one that gets the most votes will be the thread we deconstruct on the day with Favel.
No one will know which topic is the winner until the day comes. There are going to be prizes and goodies up for grabs too, so make sure you sign up to the W4W newsletter and like/follow our Facebook and Twitter pages to vote and be in with a chance to win.
If you would like to be a part of the audience for our W4W LIVE event head on over to https://www.newcastlewritersfestival.org.au to pick up your tickets and check out the mind blowing program of events on offer at the NWF. Every year this festival gets bigger, better and more impressive.
We couldn't be prouder to be a part of these extraordinary festivals, they give so much to the writing and making community, especially in regional areas and it is a gift to be invited to contribute in some small way.
Hope to see you there!
